Nash girls Go Crabbing

The day was going fairly well.  We had beautiful weather and Diana was more than happy to help Brent get the crab pots ready and touch the disgustingly, smelly bait.

We dropped the pots and then went to tour Whidbey Island and Deception Pass by boat.  Beautiful!

We were heading back to check on our pots and "then there was smoke!"  The girls and I were grabbing things like cameras and phones as we headed to the front of the boat and then I saw Jane.  She had enough life vests for her and the girls (such a good mom and long term thinker.)  If we would have had to abandon ship, Jane is the one you would want to be with.

A very nice man pulled us with his little dingy to his much bigger boat - actually it was more like a yacht.

Adventurous Diana was counting on catching some crab.  So the nice man pulled up our pots for us and we caught ...........1 crab.  A little bit of a let down.  And it was 1/4 inch too small to keep. :(

But she got to hold it before we threw it back.  The guys on the yacht asked us if we were going to name our crab.  They probably had 20 crab and weren't half as excited as we were.

Then the girls got to ride on the back of the yacht while they slowly pulled us back to where we launched.  I didn't get pictures of Christina jumping in with a rope to pull us to the dock after the yacht untied us (they couldn't take us all they way to the dock, so Christina finished the job.)  I also missed the picture of Brent jumping from boat to dock but missing the dock and getting wet anyway.  So, the second half of the day was not perfect, but memorable and adventurous!  Sorry girls.  I guess you will have to come back and do it again.  Next time we will have more crab and less fire.

Corey's Graduation

Corey has had such a great high school experience!  He has met great friends, been taught by great teachers,  been active in school and has great memories.  I am so glad he got to go to Sumner High School!

Directly following graduation, charter buses took the grads to the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle where they had the roof top to themselves.  Then they went to an indoor beach volleyball arena where they played around and were entertained by a hypnotist (they said it was really funny).  They returned to the school at 6:30 am.  Good Times!

Love,

Kelley

Prom!

Corey went to senior prom at Experience the Music Project in downtown Seattle.  Last year it was at the Seattle Aquarium.  Weird, huh?!  Anyway, they had a good time and they look so cute!

We have had tons of sun and are loving it!  It is shrimping season and somehow things keep coming up to keep us from shrimping, but we should be going soon and I'll take pictures!

Tulip Fields AGAIN!

Brent woke me up early Saturday morning and asked me if I wanted to go to the tulip fields.  I could hear the rain outside.  "Ummm.....".  Then he suggested that Corey go instead.  Who am I to stop a cousin-fest?!
So, I was warm by the fire while they were having a blast in the cold rain.

Don't they look like they are having fun?!  Christina fakes is pretty good, but Corey doesn't look as convincing.

At least they got to eat out for lunch.  That really makes it all worth it.  I hear this weekend will be sunny at the tulip fields.  Maybe I'll go.  Just kidding.  I have too many weeds to pull to go anywhere on a sunny day!

Sunday Dinner

Brent likes to cook dinner on Sunday.  Actually, we ALL like him to cook dinner any day he wants.  For me, as long as I don't have to cook I am happy.  For the boys, they like meat and butter and lots of seasoning.  I can't compete with that.  Don't even want to.  We could go vegetarian and I would be fine - the men in the family feel it is evil to even speak such horrors!

Anyway, along with the extra butter and high doses of seasonings, Brent also cares about presentation.  Obviously, cooking is a hobby for him because anyone who has cooked night after night for picky kids NEVER thinks about presentation.  But the clam shells do look nice and hold in lots of butter, and the squash and asparagus was roasted to perfection.  Bon Appetite!

I thought they would outgrow this stuff!

I left for the store the other night and Damon was leaving to get a haircut.
When I got home, this is what I found:

Evidently there was an hour wait at Sports Cuts or wherever he goes.  HOW was this a better idea?!
And I thought they outgrew this cutting their own hair stuff.  It was kind of funny when they were
five years old.  But at 21 and 17, not so much.  And don't fret, Grandma.  As much as we all
love a ginger-hair mohawk, he did buzz it all off.

Damon and Brent went snowmobiling this past weekend.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and they only got stuck once!  Here are some pics they took.
